History

1981
Established in 1981
Although Bromyard boasted a rugby club during the thirties, this ceased to exist following the outbreak of war in 1939. Bromyard RFC, as we know it today was established in 1981 by some local enthusiasts who held a meeting at the local Conquest theatre. That same evening the owner of the Falcon Hotel donated the first set of shirts hence the club logo.
1984
Second & Third XV
A Second XV appeared for the first time in 1984/5 followed by a Third XV in 1989/90.
1987
Introduction of Leagues
Introduction of Leagues On the introduction of the leagues in 1987/88 Bromyard were initially placed in North Midlands Div 4, gained promotion in 1989/90, rose to Division 2 in 1992/93 and Division 1 in 1994/95.
1990
Achievements
The club won the Bethell Trophy in 1990/91, 1992/3 and 1995/96. Runners up in the Cross and James Floodlit Cup in 1989/90 the club won it in 1992/3. In1994/95 Bromyard reached the 6th round of the then Pilkington Shield before being knocked out by North Shields (Newcastle upon Tyne).
1995
A New Clubhouse
Initially, the club met at the local cricket club, changed at the school next door and travelled two miles to play on a local farmer’s field. It soon became obvious that as the playing standard and numbers were increasing there would have to be an improvement in facilities. With the support of the late Clive Richards OBE and a substantial fundraising drive, the club was able to purchase 12 acres of land on the outskirts of the town. A new clubhouse was opened in October 1995 by the Lord Lieutenant of Hereford and Worcester and the following September two pitches were officially played on for the first time. The floodlights were installed in 2009.
2003
Mini & Juniors
Conscious that no local schools played rugby, a Youth Development Officer was elected in 1992 and now the club is enjoyed by boys and girls from ‘the buzzards’ to U16s. 2014 saw the start of the girl’s section at Bromyard playing tag rugby.
